Amy Pooler serves as Sangamo’s Vice President and Head of Research. She leads the expansion of Sangamo’s neurology pipeline and the execution of collaborations with partner companies. Since joining Sangamo in 2019, she has been focused on bringing novel, genomic medicine approaches to the clinic for neurological disorders.

Prior to joining Sangamo, Dr. Pooler served as a Brain Health Specialist within Nestlé Research in Lausanne, Switzerland. Before her industry career, she was at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School exploring synaptic degeneration.

Dr. Pooler obtained her PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for research into cellular mechanisms of neurodegeneration. She then became a Blaschko European Visiting Research Fellow in the MRC Anatomical Neuropharmacology Unit at the University of Oxford and an Alzheimer’s Research UK fellow investigating mechanisms of neuronal dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease at King’s College.
